Team Power Tips
- Proper Equipment-Do not under estimate the the power of having your equipment fit to your type of swing. Having the right equipment can mean a differance of 20 to 30 yards in distance. I always try to tell people that just because you see the pros on TV using it does not mean it is right for you and your swing. Please take this advise and go see your local fitting professional and have your equipment fit for your swing.
- Foundation-As with most athletic moves power is generated from a proper stance. I play with alot of differant skill levels of golfers and there are 2 things that I see more than I would like. One is that people stand to close to the ball and dont leave enough room for your hands and arms to rotate, which ususally causes the hands and arms to get stuck and jammed up at the bottom of the swing resulting in a flipping motion with the hands and losing all of the power stored in the swing. The other is people stand to far from the ball which causes a reaching motion resulting in a week push or slice. So please try to remember to find a stance that is comfortable for your type of swing.
- Set Up-Some people like to draw the ball and others like to fade it, most of this comes from your setup. Feet and shoulders should be square to your target line.
- Grip-Another big issue, please try to remember that tight hands lead to tight muscles in the arms. Another big power killer.
- Swing-I think that most amatures spend way to much time over the ball thinking about how they can make a bad swing. We like to call it PARALYSIS by ANALYSIS. Have a plan before you address the ball, pick a target line before you step up and try to make a swing to hit the ball on your intended line.
- Thought-Dont think about it just do it, you know there is a reason why we practice to ingrain the muscle memory into our preshot routine before we ever address the ball.
In brief-
